RightfullyHers’ founder, Siyona Bordia, attended the United Nations Economic and Social Council (UNECOSOC) Youth Forum from April 16th to April 18th, 2024 as a nominated youth delegate representing RightfullyHers. She recounts the experience as follows: “The UNECOSOC experience was truly unique and transformative as I met several people across the globe who were interested in our mission to promote various UN Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs) 3,4 and 5, such as Good Health, Quality Education and Gender Equality. RightfullyHers was featured at the Learning Planet Festival and awarded Finalist at the Learning Planet Youth Design Challenge, Jan 2024. In this video, our founder Siyona presents the vision and initiatives of RightfullyHersthe Learning Planet Youth Festival. RH was one of the 20 International Finalists at The 2024 Learning Planet Youth Design Challenge, Jan. 2024. Siyona trained with all finalists in the 6 month online Finalist Training plan involving problem framing, learning design, building partnerships, pitching and fundraising. This past week, Rightfully Hers volunteers came to the New Day shelter, which is one of the initiatives under Trinitas Hospital system for rehabilitation of abused teen girls, and were able to meet some of the girls living there. Funds were raised for the gifts from the community with the POWER club at Newark Academy school and used to buy several items on the girls’ holiday wish list such as Echo Dots and DVD players for each of the girls to keep in their rooms. The volunteers were also given a tour of the facility and talk to the staff……

This past week, efforts of Rightfully Hers volunteers and members culminated in the donation of over 100 breastfeeding kits to underprivileged mothers struggling to support their families (3rd consecutive year of donations after fundraising drives during the year). They were also given a tour of the labor and delivery unit and engaged in dialogue with the working staff there, including doctors and nurses. This was a really joyous way for us to kickstart our holiday season and reaffirm our commitment to maternal and child health….

L Rightfully Hers organized a fundraise at Sanskriti India festival where our team spread awareness about our mission and our collaborators. Our founder Siyona and her friends joined the Sleep Out: Women Unite New Jersey 2022 and slept on the street in Newark for one night so homeless kids don’t have to. As part of their Sleep Out, they raised funds and awareness for Sleep Out , an organization that provides shelter, safety, and support to nearly 2,000 kids each night….

With partnership and assistance of Millburn Inspire, our team members participated in this initiative in community with several youth members to organize a fundraiser bake sale for Mother’s Day. They subsequently assembled and donated 100 breastfeeding kits with several supplies for Trinitas Maternal Health New Moms Program and toured the maternal health facility as part of Breast Care Awareness Month in 2021….

Trinitas New Day Residential is an initiative by RWJ Barnabas Health to create a home for at-risk teen girls. Located on the third floor of the Trinitas Plaza Building in Elizabeth, which also houses New Point Specialty, New Day is a 15-bed teen residential program. The program was specifically designed to support an all-female population based on need, and supports traumatized teens who have endured physical, emotional and sexual abuse. At Rightfully hers, since 2021, we have worked to support the program through self defense workshop, book drive and donation of books and furniture for residence facility, college application workshop……

Breastfeeding kit at Trinitas Hospital In collaboration with Millburn Inspire, our team raised funds in the community and distributed breastfeeding kits to underserved mothers in Trinitas Hospital’s Maternal Health Clinic.
